This peculiar piece has some unique technical challenges. First, both hands have different key signatures. The right hand has five sharps and there are none in the left hand. Additionally, both hands are written in base clef. These two aspects can be challenging for students. Numerous ties and tricky figurations also increase the difficulty. Careful voicing and awareness of which lines to bring out are important elements. Though challenging, many of the difficulties are quickly overcome once students become comfortable with the notes. Then they can fully appreciate the creative melodies and harmonies of this short work.
