Teachers should be prepared for extreme dissonances when assigning this work to their students. Tritones and major and minor seconds abound. The piece has a rustic character and sound that is quite endearing. Two-note slurs are the most prominent articulation and should be played with gusto. The coordination of playing concurrent melodies along with the challenge of numerous accidentals makes the piece well-suited for students who are quick learners.
