Due to its slow tempo, C Major key signature, and simple harmonies, this is a great piece for students to begin integrating trills and ornaments into music without having to focus on other technical challenges. Be careful to maintain a steady tempo despite the ornamentation. Since the opening motivic material is repeated in G Major in the second half of the piece, students can memorize this exercise without great difficulty. Additionally, this is a good piece to introduce the use of rubato.
