Although this piece has the same rhythmic patterns as its counterpart, “Night,” it resides mostly in the key of F major. This creates a sunnier experience. Students need to adjust to playing both hands in treble clef in the final measures of the piece. A few hand crossings, which need to be legato, can be challenging for students. Clear pedal changes are important so that the harmonies do not get blurred together.
