This famous piece was originally thought to be written by J.S. Bach, but now scholars attribute Christian Petzhold to writing it. A minuet is of French origin and is a dance for couples. The dancers take small steps, a motion which matches the moderate tempo marking and calm mood of this piece. Both hands encounter running eighth notes throughout. The hands should be practiced with the hands alone so that careful attention is given to the articulation of both hands. Ornaments may be added with discretion.
