“Clock Talk” is short but sweet. A constant “tick-tock” pattern propels the piece all the way to the end. Staccato quarter notes play a large role in this piece and are used to keep the pulse as well as to create the sound of a clock. The staccatos need to be extremely short and light. Sections with slurs create a pleasant contrast and the differences should be made obvious. The given dynamics add excitement and direction to this work. Students need to be comfortable with moving around the keyboard.
