Daniel Gottlob Turk

The Hunting Horns and the Echo is in the Key of D Major. This piece has two melodic lines, which are not independent from one another. The left hand plays one line while the right hand plays the other line. The two lines are built in parallel motion, emulating two horns playing together. The usage of dotted rhythms and the parallel motion help to create an energetic character. At the end of each phrase, a repetition of the last three notes, and a change of dynamic from “forte” to “piano” create the “echo effect”.
