The word “Gambol” refers to prancing around happily, which this piece certainly does. Both hands primarily have staccato markings, which can be challenging at a fast tempo. Students may also find the individuality of each line to be difficult to coordinate together. Practicing the hands separately may help increase confidence before putting them together. Various markings, such as accents and tenuto signs, are used. Fun and perky, A Gambol is exciting to play once the technical difficulties have been mastered.
