One should not be in a hurry to finish this contemplative work. A slow tempo must be established from the beginning so that when the eighth notes begin in the melody the peaceful character remains. Though usually the right hand simply plays the melodic line, sometimes it has thicker textures. During these places, the top line should be voiced more. Two ritardandos help to intensify the mood, giving time for reflection.
