Typical of most marches, this work requires an extremely steady tempo and a clear pulse. Another important aspect includes producing an even tone and duration throughout all of the staccato notes. Brief moments of slurs should be extremely legato to provide a contrast. Students who have never played repeated notes before will benefit from learning “March.” Various fingerings can be used, preparing young pianists for more advanced works with repeated notes at faster tempos.
