Elie Siegmeister

By using a natural minor scale, Siegmeister creates an eerie mood. Students will enjoy the basic hand positions used throughout. Some of the tied notes in the left hand can be challenging, but a relaxed tempo makes them manageable. Careful fingering should be used so that the accompaniment is legato. The melody needs to be shaped well, and helpful dynamic suggestions are given. Teachers may want to be encouraging of crafting a story to accompany the expressive markings and dynamic changes.
