Elvina Pearce, The Harpist

Elvina Pearce

Elina Pearce certainly captures the sound of a harp in this brief work. Cascading arpeggios and harmonies reminiscent of compositions from the Impressionistic period make this piece a joy to play and hear. Students should be prepared for numerous hand position changes as well as hand crossings. Young pianists who have a tendency to pause while moving around the keyboard can use this piece to overcome that technical challenge. Dynamics and a peaceful atmosphere are quite important in “The Harpist.”
