This piece by the Armenian composer Khatchaturian is filled with opportunities for musical, contemplative playing. The melody is primarily in the right hand and should emulate singing. Long phrases are important, especially at the slow tempo. Tenuto signs are an important marking in this piece and occur frequently in the accompaniment. Good voicing is necessary for helping the melody to come through.
