This is a fantastic piece for working on two main skills: bringing out the melody and creating long phrases. Fairly unique to this piece, both hands have a chance to play the melody. They switch roles partway through when the right hand takes over the accompaniment. Students may not be as familiar with voicing the left hand, so this is a good chance to practice this skill. Additionally, the melody consists primarily of whole notes, which can make it difficult to visually envision phrase shaping. The articulation, though quite simple, should be followed closely.
