This canon is marked mesto, and it certainly lives up to this instruction. In the key of E-flat minor, a gloomy mood lingers over the piece. Keeping the pulse can be challenging, so paying attention to the accents on each downbeat is crucial. Also, the frequent eighth note rests are particularly important for playing the correct phrasing.
