Being able to convey the passion in “Timid Little Heart” takes emotional maturity in a student. This piece also requires good counting skills and a strong sense of effective pacing. There are numerous ties and dotted rhythms that can be problematic. Students may want to experiment with rubato and slowing down at cadences. The melody flows nicely and should be well voiced. It can be hard to keep the left hand at a quiet dynamic level, but it is important for good balance.
