“The Charming Flute” has a magical feel to it. Being in the key of G minor and having numerous chromatic scale passages help create this feeling. Though in 4/4, the accompaniment has a waltz-like pattern. Each phrase is broken into small units by rests, but students should be aware of the longer lines and use dynamics to help show peaks. The left hand should be gentle so that the melody can remain at mezzo piano. Using the indicated fingering is especially important in this piece.
