Because of the stop-and-start nature of each phrase, keeping a steady pulse can be a challenge in this canon. Counting out loud and using a metronome is a beneficial practice tool for mastering this issue. Half notes and eighth notes are the most common rhythmic values that Kunz uses, creating strong contrasts. Students should be mindful of carefully following the detailed articulation markings since they add a lot of interest.
