This short canon has a sneaky quality, partly due to the key signature of A-flat minor. The numerous flats, in addition to frequent accidentals, may challenge beginning pianists. The phrases that form the melody are quite short, consisting of two measures. Also, the melody is built from only four notes. To add interest, students should focus on the articulation markings.
