This somber piece requires one’s full concentration. Components such as articulation instructions, complicated rhythms, and expressive markings abound. Students may have difficulty executing the frequent accents, which sometimes create syncopated rhythms. Another challenge is the key signature, which has six flats. This, in addition to the frequent accidentals, makes this canon deserving of attention.
