This canon has a bleak character. Written in F-sharp minor, there are numerous sharps and accidentals of which to be aware. Counting is one of the foundational elements of this piece. Students will have to carefully navigate the numerous tied notes, which are especially distinguishable because of accent markings. Articulation is another crucial aspect, since staccato markings and two-note slurs abound.
