This solemn canon is great for helping young pianists improve their skills with playing a variety of articulations. Detailed slurs and staccato notes alternate throughout the piece. Frequent accents both on the downbeats and also on off-beats appear frequently as well. Unlike many of the canons in the Opus 14 collection, this one has a change in hand position partway through. Students may want to practice the hands alone in order to achieve the high level of details.
