Keeping a clear, steady pulse is a challenge in this canon. This is because of the time signature of 12/8 and the frequent rests dispersed in each measure. Practicing the hands alone is a necessity so that the rests are held for the correct amount of time. Also, students should make sure to emphasis the first beat of every measure. The articulation, however, is simple and consists completely of legato markings.
