This canon is a bit longer than its counterparts in the Opus 14 set. The phrases also are lengthier. The time signature is 9/8 and the key signature is in B-flat minor. Both of these aspects increase the piece’s pedagogical value for beginning pianists since they are a bit uncommon. Students should make sure that the rhythms are extremely crisp and accurate, paying special attention to the dotted notes.
