Picking an upbeat yet calm tempo is necessary for this piece. Students should practice the hands alone to be successful both with the frequent rests and also with the wide variety of articulations. Creating long phrases can be challenging because the entire piece is built on the repetition of a two-measure segment. However, voicing the hands can add some variety.
