Good voicing is imperative in this canon. The quarter notes should always be brought out when the other hand is sustaining whole notes. Teachers may need to explain the meaning of tenuto signs. This piece has four measure phrases, which should flow nicely. Keeping a lively tempo will keep the pulse from sounding like 4/4 rather than cut time.
