This is a great piece for practicing playing in contrary motion. The right hand leads the beginning of each segment and is followed by the left hand. Introducing students to an unusual time signature is another benefit of this work. Since it is in 4/2, students should make sure that the half notes flow nicely and that the tempo is not too slow. Keeping the articulation legato is also beneficial for producing a captivating sound.
