Just as butterflies flit effortlessly across the sky, the hands travel around they keyboard in this little piece. A gentle, light sound is essential for capturing the delicateness of a butterfly. The melody is broken between the hands and should be legato. Considering rests to be part of the music will help students give them their full rhythmic value. Though the dynamics remain the same throughout the piece, students can add some inflection within phrases. Since there is not much melodic or rhythmic variation, creating a peaceful atmosphere though tone color and sound is especially important.
