Martha Mier
The final piece of the American Jazz Scene suite and the last piece of the entire set is "Farewell Blues". It is a beautiful, and to quote the composer "soulful" piece. The LH accompaniment features chromaticism built into the typical blues progression. The melody is based on the blues scale so that it is a great opportunity to introduce this here. Students will also need an excellent pedal technique and good keyboard geography.
