Kutnowski uses chromatic figurations and jarring rhythms to create the experience of a “bumpy country road.” The left hand has the accompaniment and needs to be legato and confident. Consistent fingering is imperative for this part. Contrastingly, the melody has a wide variety of articulation markings. This is great practice for students to get as much out of a music score as possible. The changes in dynamics also add a lot of variety.
