Martín Kutnowski
This piece has a mysterious, sometimes surprising character. The accompaniment is traded between the hands, and consists mostly of an open fifth of D and A. The melody, however, is quite eerie and is comprised of short, dissonant chunks. Intense dynamics are the key to giving a dramatic performance. The sforzando followed by a subito piano can be quite effective and startling if given its proper attention.
