Students who have never experienced swing rhythms before will have fun with this piece. It is also a great introduction to tied rhythms, which are also prominent. A slow bass pattern in a C minor hand position creates a stable foundation for the melodic line. The melody, which is in G minor, needs to be voiced well in order to come through. The hand positions never change, allowing students to focus on other aspects, such as articulation.
