Incessant, driving rhythms permeate this piece. It needs to have a brisk tempo in order to capture the determined, confident character. There needs to be a lot of contrasts between the fortissimo and piano dynamic levels in the opening measures.
Some students may have difficulty with the fast repeated notes that occur throughout this piece. Teachers can help them increase speed by providing helpful fingering markings. The articulation is also quite important, and there should be a strong difference between the staccato and legato sections.
