This piece gives listeners a chance to slow down and have a moment of thoughtful consideration of the past. Long tied notes create a feeling of sitting still. The left hand provides deep, resonant bass notes and also a pulsating pattern in the middle of the keyboard. Practicing the left hand alone is helpful for increasing awareness skills of the two aspects of the accompaniment pattern. The melody gently flows in a higher register. The addition of rubato throughout and a slight ritardando at the end increase the depth of Reflective.
