The peacefulness evoked by a distant chime being stirred by the wind is captured in this piece. This restful atmosphere is created, in part, by the left hand. It repeats the same four notes until the final chord. The right hand as well has little variances in pitches. Keeping a hushed dynamic level and holding the pedal throughout will help create the needed atmosphere. Performers may want to include a slight ritardando in the last measures to bring the wind chime to a tranquil end.
