Robert Schumann, Wild Rider00:35

Robert Schumann, Wild Rider

Robert Schumann

There is nothing calm about this wild piece. Fiery staccato eighth notes encompass both the melody and also the harmonies.  Interplay between the I and V chords creates a constant increase and release of tension. Students need a strong technique to manage the speed and articulation of this piece. They should emphasis the sforzando markings and the occasional two-note slurs.
