This bagatelle has a contemplative mood, accentuated by frequent ritardandos and a flexible tempo. Students who can comfortably reach large intervals will have better luck keeping the accompaniment legato. Voicing the open fifths interspersed in the melody is important so that the phrase have a constant flow. The indicated pedaling is also quite helpful for maintaining smooth, flowing lines.
