Robert Vandall, Bagatelle No00:38

Robert Vandall, Bagatelle No. 9

Robert Vandall

This piece has great pedagogical value because of the constantly changing hand positions, hand crossings, and unusual combination of time signatures. Teachers may have to explain how to go from 4/4 to 9/8 meter. By the end of the piece, students will have played triads in almost every major key. This is great practice and can turn into a useful theory lesson. One should make sure that the staccatos are extremely disconnected in order to fully convey the bouncy mood.
