Cooper explores a wide range of the keyboard in this work. Perhaps that is to capture the grandiosity and vastness of the Grand Canyon. Breathtaking dynamic contrasts also serve to increase the magnificence. Students may be tempted to slow down during the sections with hand crossings, but they should strive to keep the tempo steady. The pedal markings and accents are also important details to keep in mind.
