Arpeggiated left-hand accompaniment in this pastorale allows students to focus on the melody’s shape and proper placement of grace notes. These grace notes in the upper register should be kept soft and light. The legato arpeggiation in the left-hand demands more focus on fingering than students may be used to. This piece will also allow students to work on the articulation of two-note slurs against legato accompaniment.
