Timothy Brown, Ashran's Magic Carpet

Timothy Brown

"This piece should be played ina relaxed manner. There should always be a constant feeling of floating as the melody weaves its way from one section to another." (Timothy Brown, reproduced here with permission of the author.)

Students will enjoy the interesting tonal effect of the raised fourth scale degree, creating an augmented step. Clear pedaling is necessary throughout. The young pianist must also be aware of having a light thumb articulation in oder to control the balance.
